Dr Sangeeta inaugurates RW Cricket Tournament

JAMMU, Dec 21: To give fillip to women cricket, Dr Sangeeta Nagri, Principal of Women College Gandhi Nagar inaugurated Season-2 of Royal Women’s Cricket Tournament, being organised by Royal Women’s Cricket Club at Women College Gandhi Nagar, here today.
Three women teams are taking part in this Tournament, which was inaugurated in a colourful, impressive and well attended function by the chief guest. The participating teams include Super Strikers, Pink Panthers and Royal Mega Stars.
The inaugural match was played between Royal Mega Stars and Super Strikers which was a thrilling contest with Royal Mega Star winning the match by 6 runs to qualify for the next round.
Earlier, put into bat, Royal Mega Stars set a target of 104 runs. Lalita top scored with 19 runs, while Alia contributed 16 runs to the total. From Super Strikers, Sandhya and Deepakkshi took two wickets each, while Abriq claimed 1 wicket. In reply, Super Strikers bundled out for 97 runs, thus lost the match by 6 runs. Rudrakshi played a fine innings of 47 runs, while Bushra contributed 10 runs to the total.
From Royal Mega Stars, Nadia took 6 wickets by conceding 9 runs, while Alia took 2 wickets.
Prof Suresh Bhatt, Prof Hardayal Singh, Prof Sujata Salathia, Prof DS Manhas, Prof Renu Salathia, Prof Sunil Kumar, Prof Nirlpe Kaur and others were present on the occasion.
The tournament is being organised under the supervision of president of the Club Veena Sharma, treasurer Anita Gupta, Shambhu Nath Sharma and Dr Rupali Salathia.
The technical panel of officials include Satika Sharma, Meenu Salathia, Surekha Singh, Ankita Jalla, Naina Kashyap and Ashima Pathania.
