JAMMU, Nov 13: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has been selected for Governance Award 2014. The selection has been made for his excellent performance in district administration with special focus on strengthening panchayats, working for electoral inclusion of excluded groups, electoral awareness and record participation in Lok Sabha Elections, working for improvements in education sector, strengthening Rural Sports, decentralized public grievance system and construction of 70 foot bridges for remote schools during his tenure as District Development Commissioner Reasi in 2013-14.
The Award Ceremony is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on December 13. Dr Iqbal has been awarded Silver Medal, Citation and Cash Award of Rs 50,000 The Jury comprised of former Cabinet Secretary Prabdhat Kumar, Power Secretary Anil Razdan, Former Haryana CS Vishnu Bhagwan, and M B Kaushal (IPS) selected the officer for second prize for Governance Award.
