Dr Tandon appointed SRP expert member under PvPI

JAMMU, Mar 5: Prof (Dr) Vishal R Tandon from GMC Jammu has been appointed as an expert member of Signal Review Panel (SRP) of Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The Signal Review Panel under PvPI is constituted by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India through IPC, usually with a team of 18 members from the country which consists of one chairperson, one member secretary and sixteen members.
Dr Tandon’s appointment has followed because of his immense contributions in the field of Drug Safety. He is the only faculty member from J&K in the prestigious Review Panel which assess the adverse Drug Reaction database of the country received at National Coordination Centre-PvPI through National Individual Case Safety Reports database management system i.e. VigiFlow.
After the assessment of the databases, various drug regulatory recommendations in the form of allowing of new or old drugs, or imposing ban on manufacturing or marketing depending on the scientific evidence generate for or against the particular drugs under question are delivered to the Drug Regulatory authorities of the country, which finally take necessary Drug regulatory decisions.
