JAMMU, July 6: Government today assigned the charge of Incharge Principal, Government Medical College (GMC) Doda to Dr Tariq Parviez Azad, Professor, Surgery, GMC Jammu.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier on July 4, Government had issued an order appointing Dr Ghansham Dev Gupta, Professor, Radiodiagnosis, GMC Jammu as Incharge Principal, GMC Doda but he refused to join citing personal reasons. Thereafter on July 5, Government issued another order appointing Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Professor Radiotherapy, GMC Jammu, but he too refused to join the new assignment, making mockery of the Government and eroding its authority.
However, according to the sources, Dr Tariq Azad has already given his consent to join the post of Incharge Principal, GMC Doda and his order has bring relief for the MBBS aspirants because if the appointment of Principal for GMC Doda would have delayed further, the State would have lose 100 MBBS seats next year, as the last date to apply for Letter of Permission (LoP) to start 1st batch of 100 students from next year is July 7 and principals of GMC Kathua and GMC Rajouri has already applied for LoP and if the infrastructure becomes ready, they will be initiating 1st batch from next year.
