Drastic changes in winning Ranji trophy team

JAMMU, Dec 20: Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) added another skit to its ‘Book of Dramas’ by making drastic changes in the winning Ranji Trophy Cricket team, omitting some good performers to make way for favourites to fit the bill.
Earlier, the team was picked for three Ranji trophy matches against Assam, Kerala and Services and after a superb display in all the three matches, with huge victories against Assam and Kerala and a narrow loss against Services in a close contested match, the team has been drastically changed, which raises questions over the wisdom of the cricket administrators in Jammu and Kashmir.
“I am at my wits-end to understand as to what forced JKCA to make these changes as the team was playing like a cohesive unit and the young boys were electric and acrobatic in the field, which simply was the secret behind their success. I fail to understand the psyche of the cricket administrators here”, said J&K Ranji trophy chief coach, Bishen Singh Bedi while expressing dissatisfaction over the selection of the team.
Now, the new look team includes three wicketkeepers, with only one regular opener.
One gets a feeling that JKCA administrators have done a balancing act by accommodating some players of their choice, without taking into consideration the winning combination.
Otherwise, the guys like Muddasir, who bowled like a champion in the last two matches, Adil Reshi, who is not in form, Bandeep Singh, who has yet to justify his talent and Sahil Sharma, who had a good debut, deserved a better deal. At least, at the time when J&K has a chance to make it to the knock-out stage by winning the remaining two games against Himachal Pradesh and Tripura at home. The sorry state of affairs is that all these boys were the members of playing XI and will be no more in the squad.
The team: Ian Dev Singh, Parvez Rasool, Ramdayal Punia, Manik Gupta, Samiullah Beigh, Majid Dar, Rohit Bhat, Zahoor Sofi, Rahil Singh, Aditya Pratap Singh, Gokul Baru, Wasim Raza, Manish Dogra and Obaid Haroon.
