Drinking water, toilet facilities to be provided to all schools: Altaf

SRINAGAR, May 25: Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, today chaired a meeting to review the status of providing drinking water, electricity and toilet facility to the educational institutions in the State. He said all the educational institutions will be provided with these basic facilities in a phased manner.
During the meeting, the threadbare deliberations were held on different schemes under which water supply and electricity can be provided to the schools in different parts of State.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary PDD, Dheeraj Gupta, Secretary Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Additional Secretary PHE, Additional Secretary School Education, Directors of Rural Sanitation, Director School Education Kashmir, Director School Education Jammu and other concerned officials.
The Minister directed the officials to identify all the schools that need to be electrified and those in need of drinking water and toilet facility. He directed the concerned officials to ensure that all these basic facilities are provided to schools at the earliest.
He said these issues will be taken on the priority for the betterment of education and for the welfare of students.
