DODA, July 20: District Judicial Mobile Magistrate (T) Doda, Sandeep Sen today sentenced a driver to imprisonment of two years for rash driving and causing accident in a six year old case.
The convict, namely Akhtar Hussian son of Mohd Sikander of Akramabad, Doda, was involved in case FIR number 242/2012 of Police Station Doda, under section 279, 337, 304-A RPC.
During trial it was established that the accused was plying the vehicle at the time of occurrence in a rash and negligent manner.
While awarding sentence to the driver, the DMM(T) Sandeep Sen observed that public roads are now swamped by reckless drivers who have no regards for the safety of others. A tendency has developed among the drivers community to overload the vehicle and further running the vehicle on a public way very rashly and negligently, thus putting the innocent passengers to a greater risk and sometimes snatching away the precious lives of human being without any fault of theirs, he further observed and accordingly sentenced the driver for two years for the commission of offence u/s 304-A RPD.
CMM(T) also sentenced the convict to 2 months and fine of Rs 1000/ for the commission of offence under section 279RPC besides simple imprisonment for 3 months and fine of Rs 500/ for the commission of offence u/s 337 RPC.
It was ordered that the entire sentence shall run concurrently and in the event of default of payment of fine, the convict shall further undergo imprisonment for two months.
