Srinagar, Nov 6: A drug peddler and an extortionist were arrested in Baramulla district.
Police said after receiving several complaints about circulation of drugs among the youth of Baramulla town, they began surveillance upon the activities of suspicious drug peddlers and succeeded in apprehending a drug peddler, Fayaz Ahmad Dar alias Ade Deaz son of Abdul Sattar Dar of Ganie Hamam, Baramulla, and recovered about 120 grams of charas from his possession.
An FIR No. 374/2013 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been against him, and further investigation has been started.
Police arrested Ishfaq Ahmad Beigh alias Seth Jamal son of Abdul Hamid Beigh of Fatehpora, Baramulla, with a plastic toy pistol which was used by him to intimidate the people for extorting money from them.
Police said Ishafaq was also a habitual burglar and a drug addict. A case FIR No.372/2013 under Section 171,506 RPC has been registered against him.
