Srinagar, Feb 16: Police in a series of actions today said to have arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Those arrested have been identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah son of Gh Ahmad Shah resident of Shah Mohalla Nihalpora, Amandeep Singh son of Jaqtar Singh resident of Hoshiarpur Punjab, Aqib Sheikh son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh resident of Sheikh Mohallah Mahin & Sameer Ahmad Sheikh son of Gulab Sheikh resident of Hawal Srinagar A/P Waripora Kunzer and recovered 05 Kgs of Poppy Straw & 385 grams of Charas from their possession.
“Besides, seized vehicle (Maruti Ertiga) bearing registration No PB07BC-8625 used in the commission of the crime. All the arrested drug peddlers have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, police said, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered in Police Station Pattan, Tangmarg & Kunzer in this regard. Further investigations have been initiated.
