JAMMU, Apr 19: A special team of enforcement staff of Drugs & Food Control Organisation, Jammu conducted surprise check of State bound vehicles carrying drug and food articles during wee hours at Lakhanpur Toll Plaza today.
The team led by Dy Controller Jammu, Lotika Khajuria during the exercise, checked sixty vehicles and collected eighty samples of food artciles like chilli sauce, cullinery sauce, chana dal, vanaspati, refined oil, milk & mustard oil and dispatched to the Food analyst for opinion.
Ten informal samples of drug items manufactured by M/s Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited, Acme Formulations Pvt Ltd & Geno Pharmaceuticals were lifted on random basis and referred to the Government Analyst for purpose of test and analysis.
A consignment of tablets Spasmolar, Batch No : NSP-7026, NSP-7027, manufacutred by Lark Pharmaceuticals amounting to Rs 4 lakhs was detained for subsequent seizure after clearance from Sales Tax Department at Lakhanpur. The said consignment was having irrational composition and is misbranded.
Meanwhile, operations of two firms namely M/s Krishna Chemists , Bakshi Nagar and M/s Century Medicos, Bakshi Nagar Jammu have been suspended by the Licensing authority/Assistant Drugs Controller, Jammu for not maintaining the sales records of drugs containing intoxicating agents.
