JAMMU, Feb 6:  Dogra Sadar Sabha has strongly criticized the National Conference for opposing the State holiday on the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh.
In a meeting of  working committee of the Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) held at Sabha Bhawan today under the chairmanship of its president  Gulchain Singh Charak, former minister and convener of All Jammu Civil Society Forum, the members regretted the role of National Conference and some Congress leaders.
The working committee was also apprised about the meeting held by the Civil Society held on  February Ist, 2017 highlighting the points discussed in the Assembly on Article 370 and on the holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh’s Birthday. The resolution of the Legislative Council for a holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh’s Birthday was welcomed by the Dogra Sadar Sabha. The members strongly condemned the statements made by the National Conference and Congress Legislators at the floor of the Lower House and also so called intellectuals who have written against the resolution passed by the Upper House.
In this regards it was resolved that 23 September, will be celebrated as holiday passed by the Upper House. Members strongly opposed the holiday of  July 13  and resolved that it should be revoked. There is no justification for it as it is unethical that Kashmiris, celebrating holiday against the Dogras, both subjects of the same State/ country. In this regard attention was invited to what Dr Karan Singh, said on releasing the book on Maharaja Hari Singh in Delhi on  Jan 28, 2017 that Maharaja Hari Singh was slammed as communal. He further said that it was because the shops of Kashmiri Pandits were being looted and in the firing some people were killed and that is being celebrated as Martyrs Day. Dogra Sadar Sabha also resolved that 26 October should be celebrated as Accession day.
In view of the seriousness of this issue it was decided to hold a special meeting of the Dogra Sadar Sabha inviting presidents of all the Sabha’s of Jammu province in the last week of February, 2017 at Dogra Sadar Sabha, Bhawan.
The working committee decided to ask the Government to issue a white paper on the foreign nationals of Bangladesh and Myanmar by 1st of March, 2017.
