DSWO, DYSS Udhampur hold two day long sporting event

UDHAMPUR, June 25: District Social Welfare Office, Udhampur in collaboration with District Youth Service and Sports Office, Udhampur conducted a two-day long tournament featuring badminton, handball, table tennis and yoga at Subhash Stadium. The event held under the auspices of National Drug Day 2024, was supported by the District Administration of Udhampur, led by Saloni Rai, Deputy Commissioner.
Around 250 youths and children participated in the tournament and pledged their commitment to a drug-free India with the motto “Say No to Drugs.  Kanika Gupta, District Social Welfare Officer was the chief guest. She was joined by Romesh Chander Mishra from District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Udhampur, alongside his team, guests and prominent citizens of Udhampur.
Gupta actively engaged with the players and youth, encouraged them to embrace sports and reject substance abuse. She addressed the participants and motivated them to increasingly participate in sports activities.
The results of the day were Kargil Marty’s Handball Club beat City Handball Club by 21-17. In Badminton (Under-15) finals Sushain beats Dibyansh and in Under-17 final Mayank beats Akarshit.
In Under-19 girls; Tejasvi beats Aastha. Table Tennis (Boys) Ujjwal Verma was the winner while Aditya Sharma came second. In Girls Smriti Suchandra emerged as winner and Kamakshi Raina as runner-up.
