Deletion of migrants votes

JAMMU, Sept 6: Durga Nagar Welfare Committee (DNWC) in a meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of its president, Roshan Lal Raina has discussed the problems of displaced Pandits from Valley.
The meeting expressed grave concern over the deletion of names of Kashmiri displaced people from the voter lists in Municipal Wards from Ward Number 59 to 67. It said in spite of the fact that during the Municipal elections of 2005 the names of the displaced people existed in the voter lists and later under a big conspiracy the same were deleted to deprive the hapless people from right to exercise their franchise.
Terming it the murder of democratic process, Roshan La Raina said that the displaced people living in these wards for near last three decades have been paying all the charges to JMC and for the devlopment of their respective areas they are supposed to participate in the election process which is also guided by rules and law.
In an appeal to State Governor, S P Malik the meeting sought his immediate intervention in the matter and restoration of voting rights to displaced people. It appealed the Governor that the Chief Electoral Officer of the State who has started the process of enrolment of electoral rolls be issued directives in this regard.
The meeting made an appeal to Chairman J&K Service Selection Board to issue the list of PM package which are pending in his office for a long time now. The meeting also expressed concern over the failure of Transport Department in starting matador service from KC Chowk to Durga Nagar.
