LEH, Mar 6: The 3-day training programme of Archery and Band for the Physical Education Masters and Teachers concluded today at Indoor Stadium here, which was organized by the District Youth Services & Sports Department, Leh. Deputy Chairman LAHDC Leh Gyal P Wangyal presided over the function as a chief guest.
In his address, he said that soon after he took the charge of Sports, he had put up a proposal in the Council for promotion of sports saying that this programme is a part of his proposal on which he expressed immense pleasure.
He extended gratitude to the Councillors for supporting his proposal as a result the sports scenario at this juncture at Leh district is on improving trend.
Mr Wangyal urged upon Physical Masters and teachers to identify those children with special talent in different fields of sports and submit their list to the Council for further training to make them National as well as International level players.
Dy. Chairman felt the acute need of a trained Band party at Govt. school level so that they could be engaged for important Govt functions. He urged upon the players to participate through Sports Council at National or International level event so that they could get comparatively more recognition for high level awards.
On this occasion, Gyal Wangyal distributed Archery and Band equipments among 34 High Schools and 14 Higher Secondary Schools and urged upon the Physical Education Masters and Teachers for best use of these equipments.
Councillor Upper Leh Gelong Lobzang Nyantak, Councillor Khaltsi, Lobzang Sherab, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Leh Tsering Tashi and Physical Education Master, Stanzin Lamo also spoke on the occasion.
