Dy EC launches poll-service website

JAMMU : A web portal offering one stop solution for all election related services to various stake holders was launched here today.

Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi today launched a website — www.Jammuelectionservices.In, in the presence of Chief Electoral Officer Umang Narula, for election related services for the candidates, political parties, printers and publishers, and also general public for disposal of election applications and complaints.

“This is a unique website which offer one stop solution for all election related service to various stake holders. Any candidate can apply online or submit complaint online on 24×7 basis and the disposal shall also be done online itself,” said District Electoral Officer (DEO) Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu.

Elaborating about website, the DEO said services include applications for permission for rallies and procession, permission for campaign vehicles, information submission by printer under section 134A of RPC, application for pre-certification of electronic media content and complaint of MCC or expenditure violations.

“Prescribed forms have also been made available online. These can be downloaded and after due completion it can be uploaded to the website with necessary documents which would be forwarded by the District Election Officer to the concerned officer for disposal under rule,” he said.

Even reports of various departments including police and traffic police could be obtained online and there would not be any requirement of manual transfer of papers and forwarding of the files, Sahu added.

“All transactions in this application is on real time basis and immediately can be received by the officer to whom it has been forwarded,” he said adding that it will not only save the time of the candidate and other applicants but also remove hassle in disposal of their cases.

It would also save time for the office and staff of DEO and Returning Officer, and other authorities including police and traffic whose reports could be obtained online.

“Login ID of all Returning Officers and their staff, police officers till the rank of SHO has been provided for online disposal of the cases,” DEO said.

The portal also contain all informations pertaining to the ongoing Assembly Election 2014 regarding rules and regulations, orders, guidelines which are uploaded on daily basis for information of candidates and general public.

Zutshi appreciated the efforts of Sahu and NIC team and expressed hope this would be replicated by other districts, and said this type of service was first of its kind in the country and after seeing its usage then it may be replicated in other parts of the country. (AGENCIES)
