DYSS demoralizing table tennis players: DTTA

Excelsior Sports Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 9: Alleging foul play in the selection of under-19 boys’ table tennis team, conducted by Department of Youth Services and Sports, Vice President of District Table Tennis Association (DTTA), Udhampur, Kumar Tarun said that the Department is demoralizing the table tennis players by giving undue benefits to blue-eyed players.
In a handout issued, Tarun said that the Department conducted trials for under-17 category and selected the under-19 team by not conducting trials. The players, who will be selected through trials, will represent themselves in the State Level Championship, which will be conducted by the DYSS.
Tarun added that due to this partial selection in under-19 category, no player of Udhampur District has been selected even after the players challenged the sports officials to conduct the trials.
The players who challenged the sports officials to conduct the trials had represented the State on national level last year and callous attitude of the officials, will take the future of these budding sportspersons to darkness only due to the apathy of DYSS officials, Tarun alleged and added that DYSS officials are demoralizing the tennis players by not conducting free and fair selection trials.
Tarun stated that DYSS conducted the matches in under-19 category, but gave undue benefits to their blue eyed players during selection.
He warned to launch protest if the DYSS failed to conduct the under-19 trials to select the tennis players, who will represent themselves on State Level Championship.
