DYSS Udhampur holds inter school tourney

UDHAMPUR, Sept 12: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Udhampur, inaugurated the Under-19 Boys & Girls District Level Inter-School Tournament with great fervour. Romesh Chander Mishra, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), was the chief guest on the occasion.
The tournament featured 376 students from 27 schools, showcasing their athletic skills in events such as athletics, Kho Kho and yoga. Mishra emphasized voter awareness through the Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, encouraging youth participation in upcoming elections. He also highlighted the importance of the Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative, with all participants taking a pledge to promote a drug-free lifestyle.
Key winners included Suraj Kumar (100m), Sudan Kumar (200m), Rakul Singh (400m), Nariender Singh (800m), and Chaman Lal (3000m) in athletics. In field events, Gyanav Sharma won the shot put, Saviter Singh took the medal in discus throw and Rahul Kumar won the javelin. Babey Zone triumphed over Chenani in Kho Kho (6-2), while Ajay Kumar and Somya Gupta secured first positions in boys’ and girls’ yoga, respectively.
