SRINAGAR, July 26: The Food Safety department organized a walkathon and eat-right festival at the Showkat Ali Stadium Baramulla in North Kashmir, as a part of the Centrally Sponsored eat-right India initiative.
Along with educating the public about eating healthy and hygienic food, many concerned departments and business owners set up various stalls during the event. The major goal of the event was to educate the public about healthy eating practices and to warn them away from contaminated and unsanitary food. Numerous people, including students, attended the event.
DDC chairperson Baramulla, Safeena Beigh, inaugurated the programme in front of other representatives from the relevant departments. Speaking with the media, Safeena stressed the significance of the program in raising people’s awareness of the food they consume. “This program promotes awareness. People ought to be aware of the food they consume. It is our duty to educate people about the foods they consume,” she said.
To protect the public’s health, she urged farmers to switch to organic farming. “Many chemicals are being sprayed on the fruits and vegetables, which are dangerous, and people need to be encouraged to switch to organic farming to do away with the spraying of toxic pesticides,” she added.
