ECC beats JCC by 11 runs

SRINAGAR, Aug 12: ECC Kheerigund emerged victorious in the Doodh Ganga Premier League (DPL) after a thrilling final against Jedden Cricket Club (JCC), winning by 11 runs. The match, held at Rangwari Cricket Ground, Kutbal Chadoora, attracted a large crowd of enthusiastic spectators.
ECC Kheerigund, batting first, set a formidable target of 206/7 in 20 overs. Showket played a crucial role with 78 runs, while Abbas Wani scored a quick 56 runs off just 17 balls. Despite a strong effort from JCC Jedden, led by Ajaz Dar’s remarkable 87 runs, they fell short by 11 runs.
Abbas Wani was named player of the match, and Ajaz Dar was declared player of the series. Khurshid as Hitmat received the best wicketkeeper award, and Iqbal Rather was recognized as the best bowler.
Dr. Raja Muzaffar Bhat, chief guest and Chairman of J&K RTI Movement, presented the trophies to the winning and runner-up teams. In his address, Dr. Muzaffar praised the teams’ performance and encouraged players to balance their passion for cricket with their education and careers. The event was attended by prominent figures including Dr. Rouf Mohiudeen, Director of Koshish NGO; Shahnawaz Sultan, Chairman of Khyber Girls School Chadoora; Advocate Nazir Ahmad; and social activist Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, along with many respected citizens from the region.
