SRINAGAR, Nov 8: The Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department clinched the title in the Inter-Department Football Tournament at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, defeating the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MME) Department with a final score of 3-1.
Organized by the Students Activity & Sports Centre (SAS), this tournament saw active participation from various departments, showcasing talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The final match began with high intensity as ECE’s Mutahir Zahoor scored the opening goal, setting the pace. MME’s captain, Ravi Choudhary, equalized shortly after, keeping the game competitive. In the second half, Mutahir returned in top form, scoring two more goals, completing his hat-trick, and securing victory for ECE.
The post-match ceremony was attended by Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman, Dean P&D Dr. Yaswant Mehta, and SAS Coordinator Dr. Srinibash Mishra, who awarded trophies to the winning and runner-up teams. Prof. Rehman praised both teams for their sportsmanship, and Dr. Mehta emphasized the life skills developed through sports, including resilience and teamwork. SAS Officer Kowsar Ali Mir announced plans for more inter-department tournaments, aiming to provide students with opportunities for physical fitness and camaraderie alongside their studies.
