JAMMU, Aug 16: Various educational institutions celebrated 69th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and zeal.
Prof RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, hoisted the National Flag at the Fountain Plaza. The Security staff of the University led by Security Officer Captain SR Dubey presented the guard of honour. The patriotic songs were played, balloons were released and the sweets were distributed. An award of appreciation was also presented to Mukesh Kumar, Sweeper, for his honesty. On this occasion, cultural presentations were also presented by the wards of the employees of University of Jammu. Deans, HoDs, office bearers of Jammu University Non Teaching Employee Union, faculty Members, officers, staff, research scholars and the students of the Varsity were also present.
On the occasion of 69th Independence Day, the Tricolor was unfurled at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra by Vice Chancellor of the Varsity Prof Sudhir K Jain in presence of Registrar Ajay Khajura, Deans, Directors, faculty members and students. On the occasion, students depicted unity, freedom, wisdom by displaying enthralling performances including music, instrumental, dance, poem and speeches which enthralled the audience.
The 69th Independence Day celebrations at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) began with National Flag hoisting by Prof Pradeep K Sharma, Vice Chancellor. The statutory officers, teaching faculty, non-teaching staff and students of the university present on the occasion saluted the National Flag.
Government Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk, celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervour. Principal of the College Er Ritu Jamwal unfurled the National Flag in presence of staff members and students.
The 69th Independence Day was celebrated at Government College of Education, Canal Road. Prof Kaushal Smotra, Principal of the college hoisted the National Flag in presence of staff members and students.

New Millennium National College of Education, Sarore celebrated 69th Independence Day. Ram Paul, Former Minister hoisted the National Flag in presence of Chairman of the College Dr Gourav Bharat, Principal Puja Gupta, staff and students. Cultural Programme was also presented by the students, followed by plantation drive.
The 69th Independence Day was celebrated at SVS Degree College, Chhan Arorian, Kathua. Principal of the College Prof RL Sharma unfurled the National Flag in presence of Prof PN Koul, Principal, GGDJ College of Education, staff members and students.
Independence Day was celebrated at Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Raipur, Bantalab. The National Flag was unfurled by AK Raina, general secretary, HESK in presence of SK Raina Member EB, HESK, Principal GMCEJ Prof GL Koul, Sanjay Dhar, GC Member, Prof HL Misri, Prof Satish Talashi, Administrator, staff members and students. A cultural programme was also presented by the students.
Model Academy celebrated 69th Independence Day at both the branches. Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER and Rupa Gupta, Management Representative, graced the occasion as guests. Chairman MIER, Dr Arun Gupta advised the students to reflect on the values and principles on which the nation is based and must uphold them not through word but through actions in everyday lives. To mark the occasion, an inter house patriotic group song competition was organized, followed by emotional patriotic retention of poem. The winners were awarded with certificate of merit. The students of primary and middle wing were involved in variety of art and craft activities where in colourful collages, bands and flags were made highlighting the patriotic spirit.
Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar celebrated Independence Day. Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Managing Director, DHSS was the chief guest, whileas Principal Devinder Kour, staff members and students were present. Besides hoisting national flag, various cultural items were presented by the students.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Nagrota celebrated 69th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotism. There was an overwhelming response in terms of gathering of students, staff, parents and guests for the celebration. Principal RK Shukla unfurled the tricolor, followed by National Anthem. Students and teachers shared their views through motivational speeches, poem recitations and various colourful cultural programmes. The group NCC under the command of senior cadet Mansi Bhat displayed an exemplary show with patriotic fervour.
The Independence Day was celebrated at Sainik School Nagrota with great patriotic spirit and fervour. The celebration was marked by a crisp ceremonial parade led by Cadet Abdul Manan held at Major Somnath Sharma (PVC) Stadium of the school. Cadets of the school also presented patriotic songs on this occasion. Colonel Kapil Dev Kaushal, Principal unfurled the tricolour and delivered an inspiring speech to the gathering. BSF School celebrated Independence Day with full gusto and patriotic fervour in the presence of chief guest, the Chairman of the school Rakesh Sharma, IG, BSF Jammu FTR. Among the other dignitaries present on the occasion included officers of force, principals of reputed CBSE schools and the elite members of the society. Rakesh Sharma, IG BSF unfurled the National Flag. The oath was administered by Principal Dr SS Khokhar. Students presented a series of cultural program related to India’s Independence. Sharda Educational trust has given scholarship to 6 brilliant students of the school who have excelled in CBSE Board exams.
Independence Day was celebrated at Air Force School, Jammu with great patriotic fervor. Air Commodore Ashutosh Lal, Air Officer commanding, Air Force Station Jammu was the chief guest. The programme began by hoisting of the National Flag, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem. Students put up a spectacular cultural programme. Special Assembly was also held on Independence Day in the nursery wing of the school. Little toddlers of LKG and UKG dressed up as freedom fighters. Earlier, Vikesh Sandhal, Principal Air Force School presented the welcome address.
The 69th Independence Day was celebrated with great aplomb and ceremony at Army Public School Akhnoor. Marking the culmination of the series of events organized by the Crossed Swords Division to commemorate the auspicious occasion, members of School Management Committee, KCS Mehta, Principal, teachers and children of Army Public School Akhnoor participated in a flag-hoisting ceremony followed by a cultural programme and a tree plantation drive. Army Goodwill Schools of Kargil region–AGS Farona, Dras, Harak Bahadur and Badgam celebrated Independence Day. In order to foster the spirit of National integration amongst the local population and students, a flag hoisting ceremony was conducted with lots of fervor and enthusiasm in all the schools. It was endearing to see the students of Army Goodwill Schools collectively singing the National Anthem after hoisting the National Flag. Earlier, in a week long celebrations, various events like inter school competition, medical camp, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Military weapon and Band display were organized in these schools. Various motivational movies were screened at the end, showcasing Indian Army’s victories and achievements.
Sanatan Dharam Higher Secondary Kanya Vidyalaya, Jullaka Mohalla celebrated Independence Day. The National Flag was hoisted by Prof B R Sharma, President, Management Committee. The programme was supervised by Vice President Prof S K Malhotra, secretary ML Vidyarthi, treasurer Sat Pal Singh, Kuldeep Sharma, Dr Vikas Nagar, Shalinder Sharma. Guru Teg Bahadur Public School, Lakhanpur, Kathua celebrated Independence Day. Jasmeet Singh, Chairman, Nasho Chodo Chetna Lehar unfurled the National Flag in presence of Yog Raj Sharma, who was the guest of honour. Neta Ji Academy (High School), Vijaypur celebrated Independence Day. The National Flag was unfurled by Principal Vivek Gupta. The students expressed their patriotism, secularism and sportsmanship by recited poems, speeches and singing patriotic songs.
The 69th Independence Day was celebrated in Bharatiya Vidya Mandir (BVM) School Ramban. MLA Ramban Neelam Kumar Langeh was the chief guest who unfurled the National Flag in presence of Deputy Chief Education Officer Ramban, Bal Ji Thaploo, Chief Patron of School Dr Mohan Lal Sharma, President, School Committee Subash Kapoor, Zonal Education Officer Ramban Zubaida Parveen, staff members and students. MLA Ramban took salute at the march passed from schools students followed by cultural programme. Heaven Kingdom High School and Heaven’s Angels–A play way school, Janki Vihar, Janipur celebrated Independence Day. A debate competition was organized, followed by cultural items by students and fancy dress competition. Principal Renu Sachdeva encouraged the students to work for the betterment of the country.
Independence Day was celebrated at AGS Naugam under aegis of TMG Bde with great zeal and fervor. The celebration commenced with address by Principal AGS, Naugam and Flag hoisting by Commander, TMG Brigade. This was followed by a small cultural programme given by children of AGS, Naugam. At the end of the cultural programme, Commander TMG Brigade distributed prizes to the participants of the inter school competitions. The trophies for drawing and essay competitions were won by AGS, Naugam and debate competition was won by Government High School Sanzipura. AGS, Naugam retained the overall trophy and Government High School Sanzipura won the runners up trophy.
Happy Hours School, Rehari Colony celebrated 69th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and zeal. Students presented various cultural items depicting patriotism. Principal of the school, Poonam Gupta while speaking threw light on the sacrifices made by freedom fighters for independence.

The 69th Independence Day was celebrated by inmates of Balgran–a charitable Home for Destitute Children at Channi Himmat. Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta unfurled the National Flag in presence of President of Balgran, SN Sharma, senior citizens/donors to the home, parents of students of Bal Bharti Public School–a unit of Balgran. Speaker also launched the website namely www.balgran.in and inaugurated library and two rooms at Bal Bharti Public School constructed through donations arranged by Sadhna Kachroo. Kavinder Gupta also gave certificates to the students, who secured high percentage in BSc Final, 12th and 10th Class. He also gave scholarship to the students of the School. Gupta also announced Rs 1 lakh from his CDF for the welfare of the inmates and also donated Rs 5,000 on the spot.

69th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at GHSS Latti. Various schools of Tehsil Latti and prominent persons of the area participated in the function. The National Flag was unfurled by Tehsildar Latti, Sushil Kumar. Each participated school presented its own cultural item on the theme of ‘Independence Day’. Independence Day was celebrated at Sub-Divisional Level (Jammu-North) at GHSS Bhalwal. The Tri-colour was unfurled by SDM Jammu North, Piyush Singla in the presence of members of various panchayats. The SDM in his speech advised the students to inculcate Nationalistic feeling in them and work hard to raise the name of the Country. A function of Independence Day was also organized at GHSS Barwal. The function commenced with hoisting on National Flag by Principal, ID Sharma and NCC officer, Jiwan Kishore. In his address, the Principal apprised the students about the struggle of our freedom fighters to free the Country form British rule.
GHSS Chiralla celebrated Independence Day with great pomp and show. Naib Tehsildar Chiralla unfurled the National Flag in presence of Major Samarpat Yadav of 26 RR, BDO Chiralla and vice- Principal of the school. Eighteen cultural items including patriotic songs were presented by the students which enthralled the audience.
The Independence Day function was also organized at GHSS Muthi, where the National Flag was unfurled by Principal, Geeta Bangotra. A debate competition was also organized for the students. The function ended with National Anthem.

Razia Choudhary, Principal of the institute hoisted the National Flag. In her speech, Choudhary recalled the Martyrs of freedom who sacrificed their lives for obtaining freedom for us. The 69th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Government Higher Secondary School, Pargwal where adjoining Middle and Primary schools of the area also participated in the function. Commandant, BSF 33 Battalion, who was chief guest, hoisted the Tri-colour in the presence of Tehsildar Pargwal, Ram Lal and BDO Pargwal. GHSS Salmerhi (Udhampur) celebrated Independence Day with pomp and show. Local Sarpanch, Munshi Ram Sharma, who was the chief guest, hoisted the National Flag. The students from various schools delivered speeches on importance of the Day. Principal of the school, Neeru Bala distributed medal among the meritorious students of the school. The function ended with distribution of sweets among all the participants and students.
The Independence Day function was also held in the premises of GHSS, Chenani. SDM Chenani, DK Sharma, unfurled Tri-colour and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents drawn from various schools of the tehsil.

The day was also celebrated at GHSS Basantgarh. SDM Dudu-Basantgarh, Kewal Krishan unfurled the National Flag and took salute. In his address, the SDM advised the gathering for maintaining unity in diversity for the welfare and prosperity of the country.
The Independence Day was also celebrated with gaiety and patriotism in the premises of GHSS Majalta where the National Flag was unfurled by Tehsildar Majalta.
A function in connection with Independence Day was also organized at GHSS Ramnagar. SDM Ramnagar, Dharindra Sharma, hoisted the Tri-colour and took salute at the march past presented by the police, NCC and students of various educational institutions.
GHSS Reasi celebrated Independence Day with great fervor. The National Flag was unfurled by Principal, PD Sharma, who in his address encouraged the students to work hard in their studies.
The Independence Day was also celebrated in the premises of GHSS Dablehar where Principal, Suman Lata hoisted the National Flag and distributed sweets among the students.

69th Independence Day was also celebrated at GHSS Marta (Udhampur). The National Flag was unfurled by Bishan Dass, Sarpanch of the Marta. Cultural programme and patriotic songs were presented by the students.

Government Girls High School (GGHS) Sattani (Udhampur) celebrated Independence Day with great patriotic fervor. Headmaster, Mridula Sharma, unfurled the National Flag followed and took salute at the march past by the different contingents consisting of boys and girls. A function to celebrate Independence Day was also held at GGHS Pallanwala. Headmaster Balwan Singh Bahu, hoisted the National Flag and enlightened the students about the struggle of freedom fighters. Later, sweets were distributed among the students.

The 69th Independence Day was also celebrated at GHS Pathi. Som Raj, local Sarpanch, hoisted the National Flag. The students of Middle schools and primary schools of the area also participated in the programme and presented cultured programmes. GHS Sirah (Reasi) celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervor. Headmaster, Lal Chand unfurled the National Flag. The students of adjoining schools also participated in the function and presented cultural items. A march past was also held.

Government Middle School (GMS) also celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervor. The Tri-color was unfurled by Gulam Muhammad, Naib Sarpanch. The students presented cultural items and sang patriotic songs. Headmaster of the School, Rajesh Tikoo distributed sweets among the participants.
The 69th Independence Day was also celebrated at GMS New Plot. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), State Secretary, Jatinder Bhat, unfurled the National Flag. A number of students, party leaders and workers were present on the occasion. Bhat in his address highlighted the sacrifices of our great freedom fighters.
The day was also celebrated at GMS (Boys), Old Janipur with patriotic fervor. Corporator, Ward No 34, Deep Bhardwaj, unfurled the National Flag. The students also enthralled the guests with their performances. The function ended with National Anthem.
