Educational institutions celebrate Christmas Day with zeal, fervour

JAMMU, Dec 22: Various educational institutions celebrated Christmas Day with zeal and fervour.
Delhi Public School Jammu organized special assembly to celebrate the festival of Christmas. The colourful bells, stars, buntings and brightly decorated Christmas tree adorned the stage while heartful Christmas Carols sung by around 200 Children on the stage ushered in the joy of Christmas as the other students presented impressive nativity scene exhibiting the birth of Jesus. This was followed by a mesmerizing dance performance by the tiny tots on X-mas and New year songs. The most coveted figure Santa Claus made his grand appearance at the end and stole everyone’s heart.
Addressing the students, Principal DPS Jammu, Ruchi Chabra highlighted the spiritual importance of Christmas. She also released two school magazines–Tarini and Kriti–the handiwork of the students of middle and senior wings respectively. Winners of various inter house and inter section competitions were awarded by her.
Headmistress, Meenu Gupta and Akshay Gupta, Tawi House Incharge were also present on the occasion.
Christmas Day was celebrated at Gandhi Memorial Higher Secondary School, RS Pura. On the occasion, Retd Principal Darshan Lal was the chief guest. Attired as Santa Clause and fairies, the students presented cultural items. Speeches were also delivered on the life of Jesus Christ. Kewal Krishan Sharma, MD of the School, Raj Kumar, Secretary and Ved Parkash, Retd ZEO were also present on the occasion. Prizes were distributed among the winners. Komal Sharma, a student of class 11th anchored the whole function.
To celebrate Christmas Day, St Mary’s Infant Convent School organized three-day mega celebrations which witnessed participation from students, parents as well as the staff and management of the school. The three-day celebration encompassed not only the opening of gifts but also the opening of hearts to immense delectation and the messianic spreading of Christmas cheer.
The Christmas jamboree was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Jose Vadakkel, the Vicar General who was the chief guest of the event. Rajesh Bakshi, Member, Cantonment Board, Jammu Cantt graced the event as the guest of honour. The special vedettes were accorded a warm welcome by Anna Mary, Chairperson of St. Mary’s Infant Convent School and Sheetal Anthony, Principal of the school. The infants reveled in the joy of honeyed words and transported the audience to the realm of fancy concocted by euphonious Christmas carols and hymns sung by them. The adorable Lilliputians adorned in their endearing ensembles, also presented a foot-tapping couple dance. The nativity scene was outstandingly recreated in the form of a live crib as a befitting apogee of the spirited show.
