Educational institutions celebrate ‘Raksha Bandhan’ with religious fervour, gaiety

JAMMU, Aug 17: Various educational institutions celebrated ‘Raksha Bandhan’ festival with religious fervour and gaiety.
Honouring the true spirit of brotherhood, ‘little sisters’ of DPS Jammu, under its integrated Child Development Programme (ICDP), celebrated the festival of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ with the BSF jawans at Akhnoor. A team of 30 students and 5 staff members left for Akhnoor to tie handmade rakhis on the wrists of BSF Jawans of the 89 Battalion and to present them with handmade cards, specially prepared by them during the heritage week celebrated in the school, a week ago. An impressive cultural program was presented by the children. The BSF brothers reciprocated the love and affection shown by the children by showering blessings and presenting gifts to their sisters.
A remarkable display of armoury was also presented by them in addition to a visit especially arranged for the school team to the nearby border area. Commandant Sanjay Kumar, SHO Akhnoor Inspector Pushpinder Singh and all ranks also presented a memento to the school as a token of their love and affection. Earlier, addressing the students and staff, Ruchi Chabra, Principal DPS Jammu highlighted the invaluable contributions of the Army and urged the students to follow their footsteps by serving the nation through their contributions.
Dogra Higher Secondary School, RS Pura celebrated Raksha Bandhan, wherein girl students tied rakhis to the boys of their respective classes. A cultural programme was organized by the little kids and songs were sung by the boys and girls of the school. Davinder Kour, Principal, Nirmal Koul, Vice President and staff members were present on the occasion.
SM Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary School, Anand Nagar, Patta Bohri celebrated ‘Raksha Bandhan’ in presence of Managing Director Parneesh Mahajan, Liaison Officer Harvinder Singh Sihotra, Principal Manikarnika Bhasin, Co-ordinator Sonika Jain and staff. The function started with the special assembly in which students were given demo regarding this festival. The girls tied rakhis on the wrist of the boys and exchanged gifts and chocolates with each other. Rakhi and Kite making Competitions were also held, followed by cultural programme, poems recitation, quotations and speech.
Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu celebrated Raksha Bandhan by organizing Rakhi making activity for classes I-V and kite decoration activity for classes VI to VIII. Kite flying for classes IX and X was main highlight of the day. Students also visited SOS Bal Gram and tied the Rakhi’s made by them to the children staying there. Principal-cum-Vice Chairperson of Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu Rohini Aima was also present.
Indira Public School, Shant Nagar celebrated Raksha Bandhan festival with religious fervour and gaiety. On the occasion, students presented colouful programme, wherein girl students tied rakhis on the wrist of boys of their respective classes. Principal Rashu Padha spoke about the importance of the festival.
A special assembly was organized by Elite Public High School, Om Nagar, Udheywala to celebrate Raksha Bandhan, wherein students expressed their views by highlighting the importance of the day. The best speech was delivered by Shanky Bhat of class 9th. Inter house competition on the theme of Raksha Bandhan was organized. Rakhi making and kite making competitions were also held. Vice Principal Kiran Durani threw light on the importance of the festival.
Sri Guru Gobind Higher Secondary School, Kunjawni celebrated Raksha Bandhan. Prof Harbans Singh, Chairman, Guru Nanak College was the chief guest. Students performed colourfull cultural programme related to Raksha Bandhan. Special attraction was skit performed by primary wing. Girl students tie rakhis to their classmates and boys took pledge to protect their sisters and respect all women. On the occasion a rakhi making competition was also organized, wherein students made beautiful rakhis for soldiers. In the end, Charanjeet Kour, Adm of the school presented vote of thanks.
Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana celebrated Raksha Bandhan. Kindergarten girls tied rakhies on the wrist of boys who in turn offered gifts for new eternal bond of holy love between brother and sister. Ruchi Charak, Trustee of the school threw light on the importance of the day. Principal Anita Bhatia she that said such activities helps a lot to enhance the creative and innovative thinking among the students and helps to strengthen the bond between brothers and sisters.
May Fair Group of Schools, Chand Nagar, Janipur and Chinore celebrated Raksha Bandhan by organizing rakhi making competition. Director Abhey Basur gave away the prizes for getting first, second and third positions in respective of their houses.
Raksha Bandhan was celebrated by Vishwa Bharati School, wherein a special assembly was organised. Students of Vishwa House spoke on the importance of festival. On the occasion, Veer Ji Matoo, House Master Vishwa House in his brief speech highlighted the religious and historical background of the Raksha Bandhan. He also recited a poem to disseminate the message of peace, dedication, love and sprit of brotherhood among the children. Annapurna Koul, Principal was also present. On the occasion, rakhi making competition was organized, wherein Mehaik Bhat from SKG, Sayam Koul from SKG, Arnav from Nursery, Tejesvi Pandita from LKG, Vivek Bhardwaj from 5th, Krish from 1st, Zorawar Singh from 2nd, Sumit Sharma from 3rd, Aryan Gupta from 5th, Rohini Rakhwal from 3rd, Parineeta Koul from 8th, Krishna from 7th, Suhani Dogra from 6th, Namrata Bhat from 6th and Samikhshak from 9th emerged winners.
Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Ambphalla celebrated Raksha Bandhan under the supervision of Principal Sunita Sharma. The girl students tied rakies to vridhas. Balbir Singh, Anil Koul, Vijay Laxmi and Jaspreet Kour, teachers were also present on the occasion.
Wonder World School, Trikuta Nagar and Gandhi Nagar celebrated Raksha bandhan. Activity based on the occasion was also done by the students. The importance of the day was elaborated to the students by the school faculty. Girl students tied rakhies on the wrist of boys to mark the bond of love between a sister and a brother.
JK Montessorie British School and its affiliated unit JK Little Millennium celebrated Raksha Bandhan. Students of classes Ist, 2nd and 3rd organized a special event to educate children about the significance of the festival by presented a stage show “Phoolo Ka Taro Ka sab ka Kehna Hai, Ek Hazaro Me Meri Behna Hai”. The programme also witnessed rakhi making and kite making competitions. Girls tied rakhis on the wrist of the boys who in turn offered gifts for new eternal bond of holy love between brother & sister. Teachers preached the students about significance of the festival and exhibited the bond love by puppet show and story telling. The sketch of colouring sheets was sent to the parents by school to fill colours of their choice and most decorated colouring sheet was selected and appreciated. Managing Director of the school Sanjeev Gupta, Director Academics Rajni Gupta and Vice Principal Geeta Dixit were also present on the occasion.
Silver Spoon Playway and Kindergarten organised a colourful function to celebrate Raksha Bandhan. Rakhi making and kite making competitions were held among tiny toddlers. Director of the School Deepika Mahajan in his speech spoke about the importance of celebrating such festival.
KIDZEE celebrated Raksha Bandhan at its Anand Nagar Bohri, Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat and Talab Tillo branches. Special assembly was conducted in which the toddlers were given demonstration regarding this special celebration. A song and a dance item added grace to the occasion. Girls tied rakhis on the wrist of the boys, who in return gave gifts to them as a mark of love and care. Beside this, kite and rakhi making competitions were also held. The facilitators made students aware about the festival.
Steeping Stone School (A Fun Skool), Bari Brahmana celebrated Raksha Bandhan. On the occasion, kids prepared colourful and sparkling rakhis under the supervision of Geetika Sharma, Wing Incharge. Kids also presented group song, rhymes and dance dedicated to pure relationship of brother and sister. Later, the colourful and attractive rakhies were displayed. Principal of the school Anjali Sharma focused on importance of girl child in the home.
