RAJOURI, Aug 26: The Educational tour was flagged in by Ravina Singh W/o Maj Gen VP Singh, GOC 25 Infantry Division from the scenic Advance Landing Ground, Rajour.
The Educational tour was scheduled from August 17 to August 26, 2013. The tour comprised of 23 girl students and two teachers from various schools of Rajouri and Poonch Sector and visited prominent places in Amritsar, Chandigarh and Dehradun.
The Educational tour aimed to provide exposure to the girl students of remote areas of Rajouri and Poonch sector about the rich cultural heritage of India as well as to spread the message of peace and harmony.
The girl students met the Dy GOC, 15 Div on August 18, 2013 on the same day visited Golden Temple. Jalianwala Bagh. Wagha Border, The tour reached Chandigarh on August 19, 2013, the consequent day, the students visited, Punjab University, Sukhna lake, Fun City and common places of interest. The tour then proceeded for Dehradun on August 22, where they visited IMA,Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy, Masorie, IIRS (Indian Institute of Remote Sensing). Svy of India, RIMC from August 22 to August 24, 2013. The tour’s final journey back home started on the August 24 from Dehradun Rly Stn. The tour aimed to enhance the knowledge, give a glimpse of modem India to the gin students as also provided them with an opportunity to interact with people of different cultures and has been aptly named as “Sadhbhavna”, The educational tour has widened the horizon of the girls and has strengthened the bond of faith and friendship between the local populace and the Army.
During the Flagging in ceremony the enthusiasm and excitement was writ large on the faces of the young and effervescent children who wanted to share their vivid and memorable experiences with one and all present at the venue. The civil administrative officials and relatives of the youth were present to greet the tour.
