JAMMU, Aug 25: One day District Level Consultative meeting on New National Policy of Education was organized by NCERT, RIE Ajmer in collaboration with State Institute of Education (SIE) Jammu at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar, here today.
Minister of State for Education, Information, and Culture Priya Sethi was the chief guest on the valedictory function while Director School Education, Jammu Smita Sethi was the guest of honour.
Speaking at the function, Priya urged upon the participations and various stakeholders associated in the field of education to put in their rigorous efforts and hard work so that they can give their valuable, most beneficial, viable feedback and suggestions for the formulation of New National Policy of Education on all the selected themes.
She said the State Government is committed to promote quality education and all required steps would be taken to improve the level of education, adding that the education policy of the state would fine tune the present education scenario keeping in view the requirements of modern day job market.
Stressing on putting in place a fool proof and transparent education system in the state, the Minister said that unfortunately in the past education sector was badly neglected and chaos, corruption and confusion was prevalent in the sector. The present dispensation is committed to raise the standards of education and all out efforts have been initiated to establish a student oriented, teacher friendly and effective education scenario in the state, she added.
She said due care would be taken to equip the state run schools with required human resource as well as with modern education infrastructure so that parents start sending their children to these institutions.
The workshop was conducted for sharing valuable feedback/suggestions on 11 selected themes viz ensuring learning outcomes in elementary education, extending outreach of secondary and senior secondary education, strengthening of vocational education, reforming school examination systems, revamping teacher education for quality teacher, promotion of Information and Communication Technology systems in school and adult education, new knowledge, pedagogies and approaches for teaching of science, maths and technology in school education to improve learning outcomes of students, enabling inclusive education, education of girls, SCs, STs, Minorities and Children with special needs, promotion of languages, comprehensive education-Ethics, Physical Education, Arts and Crafts, Life Skills, Focus on child health which shall be used for formularization of New National Policy of Education.
The meeting was attended by 132 participants comprising various educationalists, academicians, representatives from various organizations both Government and Private, member from Civil Society, Non Government Organizations.
Core members from RIE Ajmer and NCERT New Delhi Dr. R. K. Sharma, Prof. Raj Rani, Dr. Rajesh Mishra and Joint Director (Trgs) and Principal State Institute of Education Jammu H.R. Pakhroo were among the key note speakers at the workshop.
