Efforts on to improve literacy rate among socially backward: DyCM

UDHAMPUR, Apr 27 : Government is contemplating new policies to improve the education scenario in the State with a special focus to improve literacy rate in the rural pockets and among the socially weaker sections.
This was stated by the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister incharge School Education Department, Tara Chand  at a function organised by  All J&K Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association organized here today
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Coalition Government is committed to ensure overall development of the state and provide conducive and peaceful environment for the socio-economic growth which has been affected due to a long period of turmoil in the state  .
He said “we have to stand united to face all odds and it is imperative that we have to rise above the constraints of religion and region to cherish the dreams of our freedom fighter to achieve an egalitarian society”.
Deputy Chief Minister said that all out efforts have been made for the  upliftment of the socially backward people and to safeguard and promote their vital interests, adding that the Coalition Government is taking concerted efforts with liberal funding from the Central Government  to achieve the developmental targets in all the fields.
He called upon the people to avail the benefits of various schemes and  flagship programmes which are aimed to ameliorate  their socio economic conditions .
Mr Tara Chand stressed that educational facilities will be improved in the rural areas and specifically with the target population of socially backward classes  for which he also directed the concerned officers to chalk out a comprehensive strategy
State President All J&K Gaddi Sippi Tribes welfare Association, Prof. B.P Singh Chouhan presented memorandum of demands which  includes establishment of an Advisory Board for Development of the Community, establishment of Gaddi Sippi Hostel and restart of pre-matric scholarship under ST category for the students.
The Deputy Chief Minister assured that their genuine demands will be looked into priority.
Among others, MLA Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia, EX-MLCs, Rattan Lal Gupta & Bashir Ahmed, DDC Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Gareeb Das were present on the occasion.
