Efforts on to overcome water scarcity in Jammu East: Govt

SRINAGAR, Oct 9: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Choudhary Sukhnandan Kumar today informed the Lower House that potable water is being supplied daily to Jammu East constituency through CPS Company Bagh, Samadhian, CPS Dhountly and tube wells located at Pirkhoo.
He said DPR for construction of 03 more tube wells and allied works is under formulation to overcome the water scarcity in Jammu East Constituency. The areas proposed for drilling of the tube wells are M.A. Stadium, Science College and Pirkhoo, he said.
The Minister was replying to a Calling Attention Notice by Rajesh Gupta.
The Minister said DPR for construction of new Tawi Filtration plant has been framed and is under technical scrutiny.
He further told the House that the machinery at the Old Tawi filtration plant is being replaced by ERA. Moreover, DPR for an amount of Rs 1.25 crore has been framed for remodeling of Tawi filtration plant. He said work shall be taken up subject to technical sanction / release of funds.
