Eid-Diwali Milan Cup sends message of brotherhood, communal harmony: IGP

*JKP, Simula, RCC Srinagar script wins

JAMMU, Oct. 24:  Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) XI , Simula XI  and RCC Srinagar  registered emphatic wins on the opening day of the Eid-Diwali Milan T20 Cricket Cup, which got underway at MA Stadium, here today.
The tournament in which 12 teams are participating is being organized jointly by Jammu and Kashmir Police Department, Simula Software and Atman Educational Society.
The Tournament was inaugurated in an impressive, colourful and well attended function by Rajesh Kumar, IGP Jammu in presence of Police Officers of Jammu and  a large gathering of sports.
While speaking on the occasion, IGP Jammu lauded the efforts of the organizers for conducting this cricketing extravaganza and said that the events held on the occasion of the festivals like Eid-Diwali Milan Cup T20 Cricket Cup smack ecstatic feeling in everybody’s mind and send a message of communal harmony and brotherhood, besides describing sportspersons as the messengers of peace.
Shakeel Ahmed Beigh, DIG Jammu-Kathua Range; Hilal Rather, MD, Simula Group of Companies and Sanjay Mahajan, Chairman Atman  Educational Society were the guests of honour.
RK Bhat, Principal Police Training School (PTS) Kathua and chairman technical committee of the event presented welcome address.
The chief guest alongwith other dignitaries released fixture on the occasion.
Earlier, in the first match JK Police XI defeated Jammu Gymkhana by 3 wickets.
Batting first, Jammu Gymkhana XI scored 118 runs in stipulated 16 overs for loss of 3 wickets. Jagandeep Singh was the top scorer with magnificent 59 runs, while Rohit Bhat contributed 35 to the total. Shamsher, Ashwani and Rompy  shared 1wicket each for JKP XI.
JKP XI, in reply achieved the target in last over by losing 5 wickets and won the match by 5 wickets. Skipper Rajesh Gill was the top scorer with 34 runs, while Farooq and Pankaj Lada contributed 33 and 23 runs to the total. Rishab took 3 wickets, while Rahul and Tribhuvan shared a wicket each for Jammu Gymkhana. Rajesh Gill was decalared man of the match
In the second match, Simula XI scripted a comfortable win against Christian Sports Club in an easy contest.
Batting first, Simula made a huge total of 180 runs in 20 overs. Anshuman Sharma (50), Hilal Rather (28) , Punit (22) and Hardeep Singh (21)  were the main contributors. Sunny Gill and Nitu Khokher picked 2 wickets each for Atman, while Sahil and Rishu claimed 1 wicket each for Christian Sports XI.
In reply, Christian Sports XI bundled out for 111 runs, thus lost the match by a huge margin of  69 runs. Rohan (31), Ravi (21) and Anthony (20) were the main scorers. Mohit took 3 wickets, Hilal Rather took 2 wickets, while Thapa, Dhruv Mahajan, Vikram and Hardeep Singh took 1 wickets each. For his power-packed 28 runs and 2/7 in his 4 overs, Hilal Rather was adjudged man of the match.
In another match, RCC Srinagar rode on an outstanding display of batting by Avinash thrashed  Atman Club by 8 wickets in an exciting contest.
Atman Club scored 112 runs in 15 overs with Chetan emerging the top scorer with 66 runs off 43 balls, while Amrit Pal and Deepak contributed 12 runs each. Rahul Mussa took 3 wickets, while Rohit, Kuldeep and Manu claimed 1 wickets each for RCC XI.
RCC XI chased the target  in 14 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Avinash played a gym of an innings, top scoring with unbeaten 76 runs, while Sanju contributed 21 runs to the total. Sourav and Shivdutt shared a wicket each for Atman Sports Club. Avinash  was adjudged man of the match for his unbeaten knock of 76 runs.
The matches were officiated by JD Singh, Harbinder Singh, Sudhir Singh, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Sandeep Manchanda, Amit Sharma and Farooq, while the tournament is being organized under the overall supervision of IGP Jammu, and the other committee members include Hilal Rather, Sanjay Mahajan, RK Bhat, Ramesh Angral, Rajesh Dhar and Rajesh Gill, organizing secretary.
