JAMMU, Dec 24: Taking out of religious processions and holding of religious congregations in mosques marked the celebration of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed across the Jammu region today.
On the occasion a grand religious procession was taken out from Hyderpora mosque in Janipur which after passing through various markets culminated at Eidgah Ramzanpora later. A large number of Muslims with religious flags in their hands and raising religious slogans participated in the procession.
The procession was led by Imam of Ramzanpora mosque, Moulana Tabrez Hussain. He also gave religious discourses and highlighted the significance of the day in Islam. He said Islam preaches peace, love and brotherhood and has always stood against the suppression and oppression.
He asked the gathering to follow the teachings of Prophet Mohammed in true spirit. Maulana said that Islam is for peace, security of people and joy. He cautioned the Muslims against those forces who are trying to create controversies on the name of religion.
He said brotherhood and peace was dear to Prophet Mohammed and he appealed people to work for maintenance of peace and give a befitting reply to those forces who are inimical to it. Maulana appealed the people to work for maintenance of peace and brotherhood in the country.
The various organizations had installed the stalls enroute to provide fruits, juice etc to processionists.
Another function in connection with celebrations of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi was held in Central Eidgah Jammu by Anjuman Islah-Ul-Muslimeen. Renowned scholars from State and other parts of the country participated in the celebrations. The programme was spread over two sessions i.e morning and afternoon session and a large number of people participated in it.
The session started with recitation of holy Quran by Qari Mohammad Akram followed by Naate-e-Rasool. The session was presided over by Maulana Siraj-ud-Din Sahib Imam Jamia Masjid Mohalla Ustad.
While addressing the morning session prominent scholars Maulana Lal Din Sahib of Rajouri highlighted some aspects of the life and achievements of Prophet Islam and declared that Islam is religion of peace and harmony. He threw light that how Prophet of Islam brought revolutionary changes in Arab society.
He said it was the teaching of Prophet which brought warring groups of Arab society under one umbrella. It was the teaching of Islam that murdering and burning of female children was stopped in Arab.
His speech was followed by the lecture of Islamic scholar Maulana Hassan Raza Sahib from Delhi who highlighted the relevance of teachings of Islam with each passing day. He also appealed the audience to spread the message of Islam which is message promotion of peace among fellow citizens. The holy Quran casts an obligation on every Muslim to spread the message of Islam to every human being. Thus every member of Muslim community is basically preacher of peace and is to discharge his duty with full dedication and devotion, he added.
The afternoon session started with recitation of holy Quran followed by Naat. This session was presided over by Maulana Lal Din who delivered his key note address on the life and teachings of the Prophet Mohammed.
The teachings of Islam and Prophet Mohammed were also highlighted by Maulana Khalid Nadvi Ghazipuri from Lucknow (UP).
He condemned all sort of terrorism across the globe and declared that there is no place for violence and terrorism in Islam.
The session concluded with prayers for peace and prosperity of mankind all over the globe. Kavinder Gupta, Speaker Legislative Assembly, Rajesh Gupta MLA Jammu East, Vikram Malhotra of Congress and Rakesh Gupta, president Chamber of Commerce and Industry were also present on the occasion.
Earlier while talking to reporters at the sidelights of the procession taken out by members of Muslim community in Janipur area, BJP Muslim Morcha national vice president, Ishtiyaq Wani told reporters that on this day Muslims assemble to do good things which are in the interests of nation and people as well as promotion of world peace.
Wani said Islam is for world peace and brotherhood and Prophet has preached this to mankind. “We should practice the principles dear to Prophet Mohammed in our routine life and practice’’, he added.
The Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi was also celebrated at Rajouri where a grand religious procession was taken from Talab Masjid via Gujjar Chowk to Jama Masjid. Thousands of Muslims participated in it. The religious scholars from Kolkatta, West Bengal and Barely UP gave religious discourses on the occasion and highlighted the teachings of Islam.
The DC Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Bhat and SSP Rajouri Rameshwar Singh were also present on the occasion.
The reports of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi celebrations have come from Poonch, Surankote, Mendhar, Doda, Kishtwar, Banihal, Ramban, Kishtwar, Bhadarwah, Reasi and other places.
