Eight persons arrested with illicit liquor

JAMMU, May 22: Gharota, Janipur, Talab Tillo and GRP Jammu arrested eight persons along with illicit liquor.
As per police sources, a team from Police Station Gharota led by SHO Inspector Khayati Maan Khajuria arrested five persons along with 6 litres of illicit liquor and 15 litres of lahan A car bearing registration number JK02BF-3085 and scooty bearing registration number JK02CL-5041 were also seized.
The arrested persons were identified as Ram Din, son of Chouhan Din of Chattisgarh, at present Thathar, Kavi Ras, son of Mohan Lal of Dharam Kho, Vijay Singh, son of Balu Singh of Lower Thathar, Mithun Kumar, son of Sardari Lal of Nardiwala and Jay Lal, son of Bansi Lal of Chattisgarh, at present BBK brick kiln.
Cases under FIR Numbers 40/2021, 41/2021 and 42/2021 under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Station Gharota and investigation started.
The arrests and recoveries were made under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Janipur led by SHO Inspector Nayat Ali arrested a person along with 10 bottles of illicit liquor.
The arrested person was identified as Sahil Sharma, son of Manhor Lal Sharma, a resident of Janipur.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Janipur and investigation started.
However, a team from Police Post Talab Tillo led by SHO Inspector Kali Charan laid a naka at Paloura and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02AU-7241.
During checking, police team recovered 24 bottles of illicit liquor from the vehicle and arrested one person, who was identified as Sohan Lal, son of Rattan Lal of Chapryal Tehsil Khour District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 90/2021 under Sections 48 A Excise Act and 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation started.
In another similar case, a team from Police Station GRP Jammu on specific inputs intercepted a person at Platform Number 2 of Railway Station Jammu.
During checking, police team recovered 18 bottles of illicit liquor from the possession of the person and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Nitish Sharma, son of Kamal Sharma of Ramnagar, District Udhampur.
A case under FIR Number 4/2021 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Police Station GRP Jammu and investigation initiated.
