SRINAGAR, Dec 26: The Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) today submitted a 33-point memorandum to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, outlining demands from various departments and public sector units.

Addressing a press conference, EJAC president Wajahat Hussain said a delegation met the Chief Minister and presented the memorandum, which focuses on the regularization of daily wagers and other temporary employees, as well as the implementation of the Minimum Wages Act at par with other states and Union Territories.”
A central focus of the meeting was the regularization of daily wagers and other temporary employees, alongside the implementation of the Minimum Wages Act,” Hussain stated.
Hussain added that EJAC urged the Government to allocate budgetary provisions in the upcoming budget to fulfill these demands. “The committee proposed forming a Cabinet Sub-committee to draft rules for the regularization process, a suggestion the Chief Minister agreed to in principle,” he noted.
He further said EJAC called for a high-level committee, with representation from the employees’ body, to address workforce issues in a time-bound manner.
“Other demands included implementing the 7th Pay Commission recommendations for remaining Public Sector corporations, such as the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC), and resolving long-pending issues in the Education sector across the Union Territory,” he said.
