Elaborate arrangements for comfortable stay of visiting teams: DG Sports

JAMMU, Dec 17: The Department of Youth Services and Sports is hosting 59th National School Games, under the auspices of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in the Discipline of Volleyball Under-14 Boys and Girls at MA Stadium in Jammu from December 19 to December 23, 2013.
This was informed by Director General Youth Services and Sports, Navin Aggarwal while addressing media persons at Conference Hall, MA Stadium, here today.
He said 42 teams with 22 boys and 20 girls drawn from 22 States/UTs across the country are participating in this sporting extravaganza, vying for the top honours. The participating States include Andhra Pradesh, CBSE, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, IPSC, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamilnadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Vidya Bharti, West Bengal and host J&K.
A huge number of 502 budding volleyball champions of various States with 261 boys and 241 girls will be competing in this mega sporting event.
The Director General said that the Girls teams will be lodged at Youth Hostel Nagrota, while the boys teams will be lodged at Saraswati Dham, near Railway Station, Jammu, besides those teams which will be having their own mess will be lodged at Yatri Bhawan, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
Mr Navin Aggarwal said that the organizers have made elaborate transport, messing, medical and security arrangements for smooth and comfortable stay of the visiting contingents.
He said for smooth and successful conduct of the matches, the organizers have prepared six volleyball courts within the one venue of MA Stadium, adding that the matches will be officiated by a panel of experts drawn from the Department of Youth Services and Sports and the School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
Meanwhile, about the preparation of the host team, the Director General said that the team is well prepared as it is going through a well organized coaching camp under the supervision of experts of the game, besides the players have been going through a series of tournaments, before been selected in the State team. The tournaments included Intra-Murals, Inter-School, Inter-Zone, Inter-District and Inter-Division. Apart from these tournaments, the players received coaching at all levels including ongoing Pre-National coaching camp.
