Elder’s Day

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Elder’s Day celebrated’ DE Oct 2. In the mad rush for making money and choosing lucrative professions, the people who suffer the most are our elders or senior citizens.  There is an urgent need to take care of our elders who feel neglected and forgotten at homes and at old age homes.
The gap between this generation and the one following them is also widening due to a  number of reasons which are social and economic in nature. On the other hand, the State Government is also callous towards the senior citizen employees. They have a number of grievances against the Government.
These pensioners are quite critical of the Government on not releasing their arrears in one go, increasing medical allowances and other such problems.
To ensure them a dignified and healthy life in this hour of their life, every endeavour should be made to redress their grievances in a sympathetic and compassionate manner.
Yours etc….
