Srinagar, Nov 6: Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today said that Assembly elections are being conducted in the State to serve administrative issues. He also said that these elections will never find any political solution or would not change the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a seminar at Party Headquarters, Mirwaiz made it clear that Assembly, parliamentary and any other elections are being conducted in the state to serve administrative purposes and it should not be mistaken with political solution of Jammu and Kashmir issue.
Mirwaiz also said that these elections have never been able to change the nature of the issue and nor it will happen in future as well. “The genuine struggle cannot be suppressed by offering economical grants or by using force against people”, he said.
The Hurriyat chairman said mainstream political parties in the State are continuing with the policy of divide and rule and should realize that the time has come that Jammu and Kashmir issue cannot be put in cold storage for longer. Mirwaiz said mainstream politicians always resort to double speak on the J&K issue.
He said that their dirty politics has been exposed with their contradictory statements at different places and platforms to please their masters at New Delhi.
The Hurriyat Chairman said that New Delhi and Islamabad should hold serious negotiations on suggestions put forth by Hurriyat Conference and the conglomerate would extend its full cooperation for such a process. He said Hurriyat Conference can exist as a bridge between India and Pakistan in a bid to fully restore the relations between the two countries.
The Hurriyat chairman said that it is unfortunate that in this globalised world Kashmiris can talk to their relatives living in Europe and America, but not with their brothers living in PoK.
Senior Hurriyat leaders including Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Javed Ahmad Mir, Agha Syed-al-Mujtaba, Salim geelani, Shahid Salim, Yasmeen Raja, Chowdhary Shaheen, Abdul Manan Bukhari, Bashir Ahmad, GN Najar, Musadiq Adil, Advocate Abdul Majid Banday, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, Mushtaq Sufi and GN Zaki, noted writer Om Kar Razdan were also present on the occasion.
