Electric Engineers delegation calls on Dr Nirmal Singh

JAMMU, May 3: A delegation of Electrical Engineering Graduates’ Association met Deputy called on Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh here today. The delegation was led by president of the Association Daulat Ram Bhagat and it submitted a charter of demands to Dr Singh .
The delegation expressed serious concern over non regularization of engineers and said it has laid demoralizing effects on the fraternity of engineers at all levels. The delegation demanded that the process of regularization and confirmation at various levels may be expedited. It stressed on the need of asset based management at Sub Division level on the pattern of neighbouring States.
The Association raised the issue of the problems faced by the Electric Engineers post electric mishaps and subsequent harassment met by the officers during the course of investigation by the Police Department. Moreover, it demanded that a dedicated fund should be created for providing compensation in electrical accident cases.
Besides, the issue of enhancement of the field Traveling Allowance was also discussed threadbare in favour of JEs and stressed that the case be taken up with the Finance Department from Rs 30 to Rs 5000 per month.
The delegation also raised the issue of non inclusion of AMIE fellow engineers in the seniority list. It said since 1999 the engineers are struggling for the inclusion of their names in the seniority list despite the fact that their juniors have already been promoted.  The issue regarding deputation of engineers to other departments was also discussed in depth.
It further discussed filling up of vacancies from Chief Engineer to Junior Engineer level. Dr Singh assured the delegation that a proper mechanism will be devised regarding transfers so that no favouritism be allowed.
The delegation appealed Dr Singh that separate directorate be proposed for new upcoming solar/thermal projects and posts of AEEs be created in the newly created circles and divisions.
Dr Singh also assured the delegation that a joint meeting with administrative secretary will be held at Srinagar so that these issues could be resolved at an earliest.
The other members of the delegation included Er Ravinder Kumar Sharma, vice president, Er Mohammed Ashraf , publicity secretary, Er Rohit Gupta, provincial secretary, Er Ajay Bhagat, treasurer and Er Vijay Kumar cashier.
