Srinagar, Jan 2: Doctors have said that the failure of electricity supply in Chest Disease Hospital that comes under essential services was shocking.
A statement of Doctors Association Kashmir, DAK, said it is shocking that Chest Disease (CD) Hospital Srinagar had no electricity for two days with the result patients faced huge inconvenience.
Quoting its president Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan the statement said the Chest Disease Hospital Srinagar during winter months receives huge number of chronic obstructive lung disease patients requiring oxygen as life saving treatment.
“Without electricity oxygen is not delivered to these patients putting precious lives to risk. This forced attendants and patients to stage massive protests in the campus of CD Hospital who had come to receive specialized care from peripheral Hospitals. It is pathetic that CD Hospital has no genset available and during power cuts, patients are left to mercy of Almighty. This is a criminal negligence on part of authorities,” he said.
