Embezzlement in Army Supply: CBI raids Army officer’s residences, seizes records

JAMMU : The sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigations today raided the residences of a senior officer heading Army Supply Corps dealing with the supply of goods in the Army in the Northern Command Udhampur.
“Special teams were constituted and simultaneous raids were conducted at the residences of Major General V K Sharma situated in Udhampur, Delhi and Gurgaon,” a senior CBI officer told reporters.
“The Army officer used to deal with supply of goods worth crores per annum in the Northern Command and he was caught red handed by the some of the Army officials while accepting bribe,” the CBI officer said.
He further said that the Army handed over the case to the CBI following which, simultaneous raids were conducted today at the places of Major General Sharma.
“We have seized important records and documents, which are being scrutinised,” he said.
“So far, it has been found that the Army officer had invested in properties and gold and other valuable assets but the investigations are in progress,” he added. (AGENCIES)
