JAMMU, Sept 24: Exerting pressure on the Government, the State employees from various departments and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs)  held strong protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground near Press Club here today.
A large number of employees under the banner of State Government Employees Joint Action Committee (SGEJAC) led by  Sushil Sudan, Pardeep Sharma, Subash Verma, Suresh Sharma, Prem Singh Bawa, Aijaz Kazmi, Sanjeev Bali and others assembled at the Exhibition Ground near old Tawi bridge  here in the morning and started protest demonstration followed by day long dharna. They alleged that Government has failed to honour its commitment  and address the pending issues of the employees. They condemned the  Government for adopting  delaying tactics in resolving pending issues and also resorting to the tactics to hold meetings/ dialogue  on pick and choose basis. They said any talks held under such circumstances ignoring large section of employees and workers and their representatives will not be acceptable to the majority of the employees.
They alleged that the major demands of the employees including regularization of daily wagers, ad hoc, contractual and consolidated employees by framing a policy, removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre, release of DA installment, budgetary support to the PSUs, release of balance arrears, increase of medical allowance etc have not been addressed despite several representations and agreements reached between two sides.
Several employees leaders also addressed the gathering and criticized the Government for adopting delaying tactics. They alleged that some bureaucrats were creating hurdles in resolving employees issues  and this Government has proved as anti-employees. They also alleged that by inviting selective employees leaders for dialogue, the   Government was again trying to create confusion and seems to be non-serious in resolving the issue.  They pointed out that similar protest demonstration will be help at Press Enclave Srinagar on September 26, 2013.
