RAJOURI, Nov 24: Former Health Minister and MLA Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Khan today said that providing employment to the unemployed youth of the area and infrastructure development including roads, power stations, hospitals, school buildings, water pumping stations etc will be his priority in the constituency.
Addressing public meetings at Dhara, Baroon, Dhoke areas of his constituency, Mr Khan said that stage is set for his win in the Assembly segment Rajouri. Khan was welcomed by the Sarpanchs, Panchs and prominent persons of the area. A large number of people accompanied him all the way. He said that Congress is committed for overall development of the State and to uplift the down trodden people. Khan said removing unemployment and raising infrastructure will be his priority in the area.
The Congress MLA threw light over his achievements and recalled the public various major developmental works in Thannamandi area. He said that Sub-Division of Thannamandi, was recently sanctioned along with number of Niabats and blocks is a historic decision of the party. He said that his party and party veterans even Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control resigned from the Ministry just for the sake of public. The reason was of the regularization of casual labourers as the State is facing employment crisis. He was of the opinion that if people shall give a clear mandate to the Congress, the party shall address the real aspirations of public with full justice.
Khan also said that Congress is committed to uphold and strengthening of the special status of J&K and the party will oppose every move to dilute Article 370. He reiterated that some forces which are thinking on weakening or eroding this article are inimical to peace and tranquility in the State. The MLA said that after accession, Article 370 has proved a vital bridge between India and J&K. He said Congress has changed the scenario of the State and strengthened the backward areas. He reiterated that schools, colleges, hospitals, dispensaries, Anganwari centres shall be given priority and people will get easy access to the services.
Shabir Khan later addressed a youth convention at Rajouri, where a large number of youths joined the party. The youth wing secretary read the resolution of their demands and pledged to support him in the elections. He asked the them to elect a right candidate who can safeguard their interests during the next six years, adding that elections are held to give opportunity to the people to realize the performance of the sitting candidate and people must judge his performance.
Other who spoke on the occasion included Sarpanch Abdullah, Shakeel Mir PCC general secretary, Sain Abdul Rashid district president, Mirza Qayoom, Ayub Dar and Iftiqar Ahmed.
