This has reference to the “National Energy Conservation Week’ that was celebrated in the country. Despite knowing fully well that energy is an essential component of Sustainable Development, people in India are not much aware of its conservation.
People continue to use electricity, and other sources of energy ruthlessly. The Jammu and Kashmir State is facing huge electricity shortage at present. The gap between supply and demand is increasing, and this gap could be reduced only if people use it judiciously. But that does not happen. People like to face problems on account of shortage of energy, but are reluctant to change their attitude to energy.
There is need to launch a vigorous awareness campaign among masses to save energy, and the consequences of its non-judicious use. The early we understand it, the better it would be for the country.
