Ensure regular market checks to curb adulteration: Shabir

SRINAGAR, Aug 1: Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan today called upon the field functionaries of Drugs and Food Organization to intensify regular market checkings across the State to curb the food adulteration.
Chairing a meeting of the officers of Food Organisation here today, the Health Minister instructed for intensifying the services of Food Inspectors at their jurisdictions to check the food adulteration in the markets. He cautioned the concerned authorities that no shopkeeper should be allowed to make adulterations, samples should be lifted in random for testing and items found spurious during testing bring in the notice of higher ups for immediate action under the Act.
The Minister also reviewed physical and financial status of the functioning of the organization and was apprised that working of field functionaries are being monitored on monthly basis and they have been made bound to achieve fixed targets with assurance to keep close vigil on the menace of food adulteration harmful to health.
Meanwhile, the Minister, who is also the MLA of Rajouri directed the district administration to ensure all required arrangements for celebration of ensuing Shabi-Qadar and Eid-Ul- Fitar in the district.
