Ensure security of temples, shrines in Valley: PNBMT

JAMMU, Aug 9: Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) which held a meeting here, today under the chairmanship of Roshan Lal Pandita has urged the Government to ensure security of religious places and temples of minority Hindus in Kashmir Valley in the event of prevailing situation.
The meeting, while reiterating its demand of passage of Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill appealed the Governor, Satya Pal Malik to issue an ordinance in this regard till the Bill is passed in Assembly. It said the condition of many Hindu shrines is deplorable in Valley after the mass exodus of community as there is no proper management to look after them.
The meeting said the apprehension of community have increased in view of recent grabbing of Shiv Temple land, dharmshalla and another temple land in Rainawari Srinagar by land mafia and the Government till date has failed to restore the same to the management committee of the area despite the wide spread protest by the community in this regard.
The meeting urged the Government to provide security to the Hindu shrines and temples in the Valley by installing CRPF pickets outside them. The meeting also expressed concern over withdrawal of security from Jawala Ji temple in Khrew.
The meeting among others was attended by Shiban Khybri, Advocate Kashmiri Lal, Virendr Raina, H L Bhat, Rohsan Lal and Sundri Lal Koul.
