Ensure timely submission of UCs: DyCM

SRINAGAR, Sept 14: 4541 dwelling units, out of 6131, sanctioned under IHSDP, have been taken up in Kashmir and Jammu divisions during current fiscal while Rs. 1312 crore stands approved for 108 projects under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewable Mission (JnNURM).
This information was given to the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand while reviewing the physical achievement of the projects approved under urban development sector for current fiscal in Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
It was given out that Rs 129 crore have been earmarked for improving sewerage facilities in Jammu division while Rs 132 crore are being spent in Kashmir division for the purpose. Apart from this, Rs 20 crore have been approved for comprehensive sewerage schemes for left over areas of Jammu division, it was added.
The meeting was told that Rs 68 crore have been expended during current fiscal so far out of Rs. 148 crore approved for taking forward Tangnar water supply scheme while Rs. 121 crore have been earmarked for completion of Sukhnag water supply scheme.
The meeting was informed that 5 projects have been sanctioned under UIG for which Rs 260 crore have been released out of Rs 551.84 crore approved for the scheme. The meeting was further told that about Rs.204 crore have been spent under BSUP and UIDSSMT schemes in both the divisions out of Rs.587 crore sanctioned for the schemes.
Deputy Chief Minister asked the officers to bring more efficiency in completion of the projects in the time bound manner particularly in Kashmir division, in view of limited working season. He directed officers to take up all pending works within a weeks’ time so that funds released for the purposes are utilized within the period fixed by the Centre.
Mr. Tara Chand instructed officers to monitor the work and review the progress on regular basis to avoid delay in completion of the projects. He asked them to ensure timely submission of utilization certificates so that projects forwarded to the Centre are cleared early for enabling department to take up future projects in the State.
Among others, Director Local Bodies Kashmir, Chief Engineers PHE departments, Jammu and Srinagar besides senior officers from Housing and Urban development department were present on the occasion.
