SRINAGAR, Aug 17: To expedite early start of work on the two AIIMS like institutes sanctioned by the Union Government for Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Secretary, B R Sharma today chaired a meeting with the concerned Administrative Secretaries here.
Besides Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Deputy Commissioners of Pulwama and Samba districts and other officers were also present in the meeting.
Chief Secretary reviewed issues concerned with land acquisition, power and water supply, drainage, approach road and clearances required in respect of the two sites selected for establishment of AIIMS viz. Awantipora in Pulwama district and Vijaypur in Samba district.
Chief Secretary instructed the Revenue authorities to swiftly complete the relevant formalities for land acquisition. He also asked Administrative Secretaries of PWD, PDD & PHE to meanwhile start working on the plan of action to be implemented for meeting the immediate and future needs at the site with regard to approach road and drainage, power supply and water supply.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary reviewed the attendance of Government employees.
While expressing satisfaction over the attendance of employees in government offices, it was noted with concern that some employees are not attending to their duties regularly, thereby putting the general public to inconvenience in availing various services. It was also noted that absence of such employees particularly in the educational institutions has been adversely affecting studies of the children.
Chief Secretary directed the Administrative Secretaries to ensure that all employees working in the departments under their administrative control including the subordinate offices attend to their duties regularly. He further instructed that employees, who remain un-authorizedly absent, should be asked to immediately report to their duties, failing which action as warranted under rules should be initiated against them.
