Estates employees staging protest dharna in Jammu on Saturday.

JAMMU, Oct 13: Employees of  Estates Department staged protest dharna outside the office of  Deputy Director Estates at Manda here today.
The employees of  the department under the banner of  Coordination Committee of Estates Employees Unions led by Prem Singh Bawa and Yash Paul Sharma assembled in the office complex of  Dy Director, Estates Arun Singh Manhas  and staged strong protest. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands.
The agitating employees condemned the attitude of  the higher authorities for taking no pains in mitigating their sufferings. They alleged that despite several meetings with the Director Estates and submitting memoranda on charter of demands, no action has been taken in resolving the pending issues of the employees. They warned to intensify their agitation in coming days.
The main demands of the employees included reorganization of the department, conduct of DPC of all cadre, provision of  two and half days additional salary for field staff, amendment in service rules, regularization of daily wagers/ contractual/ ad hoc/ consolidated employees, early clearance of  pending SRO-43 cases, shifting of Dy Director’s office from Manda, construction of own building  and provision of staff quarters.
