Sharma, who retired recently as Deputy Director, Mountaineering Institute in Himachal Pradesh has numerous achievements under his belt. “When I started climbing in my childhood, there wasn’t any culture of this sport in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. For that matter, my parents used to stop me from taking this sport, but it was my friend as also my mentor Ashok Kumar, who motivated my parents. He has always been a guiding force in my achievements,” expressed Rajeev while talking to Excelsior.
It is always an ecstatic feeling to receive an award for your achievements, Rajeev added.
