POONCH, May 26: Expressing resentment over the acute shortage of food grains at the CAPD outlets in entire Poonch constituency, Youth National Conference provincial president and former MLA, Ajaz Jan today said that the situation is quite precarious in the areas along Line of Control.
“The rationees have to traverse five kilometers for getting their rations, which remains seldom available at the sale-outlets”, Jan said in a statement, regretting that the Government ought to have been rather more focused about the people along LoC in view of the prevailing scenario due to shelling.
He said that mostly people return empty handed, due to non-availability of rations that has almost created chaotic situation. This is going to add to their miseries during the holy month of Ramadan, as other utility services are already in a bad shape. He said the PDP-BJP has failed the people of the state especially those in the border areas.
Jan sought hundred per cent coverage of the residents of forward areas, saying a special dispensation is needed to be worked out, as most of the farmers are deprived of farming due to border tension. He urged the administration to look into the complaints of scarce availability of rations and fixed the responsibility on the concerned who have failed in ensuring adequate buffer in the border areas.
