Ex-policemen hold meet, discuss demands

JAMMU, Oct 8: Ex-Policemen League held a meeting and discussed various issues pertaining to the welfare of the police officials. The meeting was presided over by its president KS Sambyal, Rtd DySP.
The speakers demanded enhancement in the medical allowances from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000 per month. They urged the DGP for revival of SRO 458 as SRO takes care of all the problems of the retired police personnel.
They added that in the event of death of a retired police official/ officer on spot payment of Rs 5,000 through a special representative of the Police Department should be made, adding, that all district SPs may be authorized to sanction the amount.
They also demanded 5 per cent reservation in police recruitments and in professional institutions for wards of retired NGO and other ranks of policeman.
