AKHNOOR, Mar 30: Army authorities organied an ex-servicemen rally and medical camp at village Molu in Pargwal area of Akhnoor sector in district Jammu today.
The event was inaugurated by Brig BS Bisht, Commander Chenab Brigade. In addition, Commanding Officer, Pargwal Battalion, Devenderpal, SDM Khour and many other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
While addressing the rally of Veterans, war widows/ Veer Naris & their families, Col Kumar Anand, Commanding Officer Pargwal Battalion assured the gathering that the Army & Government were sensitive to the needs of people of border areas & would take all steps to ensure that Ex-serviceman and their families are adequately cared for and looked after in a befitting manner. He encouraged the gathering to continue their selfless service towards society & the nation building and encouraging the youth to join this noble profession.
Various agencies from the Army, State Government and Private Sector established stalls to render assistance and spread awareness on pension, Health, Education, Banking, Digitis-ation, Insurance, Aadhar, placement, rehabilitation and recruitment to resolve the problems of Veterans.
A medical camp was also organised which aimed at addressing the medical needs of the population residing in remote area of Pargwal and adjoining villages of Khour, Akhnoor and Damana.
Doctors’ including various specialist like Medicine, Ortho, Eye, ENT, Pediatrician, Gynecologist, Surgeon & Ayurveda Physician rendered free Medical advice, carried out Medical check up & distributed free medicines to all the needy civilians of border areas and veterans.
In addition, a special stall was also set up by Red Cross Society, Jammu. The team of doctors of Red Cross also carried out a lecture & demonstration on administration of emergency first- aid. The Veterans and widows expressed their gratitude for the efforts being taken by the Army to reach out to them & to address their genuine concerns.
