KATHUA Apr 19: Excise Department booked one person under Sec 48 (a) of the J&K Excise Act, beside destroying 850 kgs of Lahan, one working still and 20 pouches, 45 bottles of illicit liquor during different raids carried out against illicit liquor in Excise Range Kathua.
This was stated in a Excise Department handout issued here today. It said
under the direction of Excise Commissioner, Mohd. Javed Khan and the active supervision of the Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Ghanshyam Singh, the Excise team Kathua led by ETO, Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta & Inspector Excise, Arun Kumar raided the Chakdrabkhan, Dadoli & Sumwan areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
During the raids one person namely Bodhraj S/o Balkar Chand R/o Chakdrabkhan, Kathua was booked under Section 48(a) of J&K Excise Act for possession of illicit liquor.
In the process more than 850 kilograms of Lahan, one working still and 20 pouches, 45 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from State land and later destroyed by the team on spot.
